Read MoreArrow FrightFest, one of the UK’s most famous horror and fantasy film festivals, is back to celebrate its 23rd blockbuster edition.
The festival returns to its spiritual home of Cineworld, Leicester Square and the Prince Charles Cinema in the heart of London for five days of terror, thrilling fantasy films.
With its two previous festivals being hampered by COVID-19 restrictions, FrightFest’s team was driven to bring 2022 back with a bang.
Each year, FrightFest sees thousands of horror hopefuls rush for tickets, and with appetite high after the pandemic, we expected a surge like never before.
When a popular event is placed on sale the demand on our servers can be extremely high. While we’re hosted on the cloud and can scale our servers up easily, some areas external to Nutickets, such as payment providers, can be less flexible.
To tackle some of these issues, over the last year, we rolled out a newly designed Nutickets — with improvements, better support, and more features, among other upgrades.
This year's festival was the second event FrightFest launched on the new platform.
To our delight, the ticket launch has been heralded as a roaring success by horror fans. On average customers were able to purchase tickets in just 3 minutes, making it one of the most successful FrightFest launches in history.
The lucky ticket holders took to Twitter to rave about their experience.
Since joining us in 2016, Frightfest has run six consecutive festivals with Nutickets. Outside of the main event in August, FrightFest also stages a Halloween extravaganza and hosts a regular two-day terror-thon at the Glasgow Film Festival every February.
We’ve seen FrightFest grow since its first event, moving to a larger cinema complex and showcasing more screenings than ever before. The team have been able to scale up using Nutickets, and efficiently manage the complications that come with running a multi-day event across various different venues.
A vast array of premiere screenings, special events and incredible guests happen across the five days. FrightFest uses Nutickets to offer full festival passes, single-day tickets, as well as admission to individual screenings.
The team currently uses 10 different seating plans to showcase each screen across the two cinemas. This gives attendees a bird's eye view of each auditorium, so they can reserve their favourite seats.
Leicester Square will be the ONLY place for film lovers to be over the late August Bank Holiday weekend. For more information, head over to https://www.frightfest.co.uk/
